MCAN August 2020 Newsletter

Dear all,

We hope you are doing well.

Some quick items from Malmesbury’s Climate Action Network. We hope to be able to provide a more in-depth update after our committee meeting at the start of September.

In collaboration with Movies @ Malmesbury, MCAN are delighted to bring you Sir David Attenborough’s new film ‘Life On Planet Earth’ at Malmesbury Town Hall, 28th September at 7pm and 2nd October at 2pm. The screening on 28th September is followed by a special Q&A with Sir Michael Palin. The flyer for the event is attached. Please order your tickets here.

You can also find a risk assessment for visiting the cinema while adhering to social distancing guidelines at the same link.

“One man has seen more of the natural world than any other. This unique feature documentary is his witness statement.

In his 94 years, David Attenborough has visited every continent on the globe, exploring the wild places of our planet and documenting the living world in all its variety and wonder. Now, for the first time he reflects upon both the defining moments of his lifetime as a naturalist and the devastating changes he has seen.

Honest, revealing and urgent, DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: A LIFE ON OUR PLANET is a powerful firsthand account of humanity’s impact on nature and a message of hope for future generations.”

Borrow Shop

The team progressing with the borrow shop in Malmesbury are collecting data on the time typical household items spend unused/idle. They are collecting this data in order to build empirical evidence to show the benefits of item rental, which is vital in order to put the case forward to stakeholders. Please support them by filling out their quick questionnaire.

MCAN Website

Don’t forget that we have a website! Each sub group of the network has their own page which we are beginning to populate. Our events section and library section are also being updated relatively frequently so please do take a look.

As ever, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your questions, queries or suggestions for the network. In addition, if there are work streams that you would like to get involved in, please do get in touch and I can forward your details to the work stream leads.

I will be in touch again soon.

With best wishes.
